Child safety
Last updated: October 2026.
Our minimum age is 16
Orion Skies is a site for smart telescope owners with a members' community, where members share pictures and message each other. Joining is for people aged 16 and over. The site is not made for or aimed at children, and we do not knowingly let anyone under 16 join.
How we check
Everyone who joins confirms they are 16 or over, and we keep that they did. This is a simple self declared check, suited to a community about telescopes with no adult material. We do not ask for identity documents, because that would be too much for a site like this.
The guides, targets, forecasts and tools can be read without joining. Only the community needs an account.
Keeping the community safe
- Clear community rules against abusive, harmful or illegal content.
- A Report button on every post, comment, profile and message, and a block button that hides two members from each other.
- Members' posts and pictures can only be seen by signed in members.
- Reports are looked at, content removed and accounts suspended where the rules are broken, and a record is kept of what was done.
If you are a parent or carer
If you think someone under 16 has an account, or you are worried about a young person using the site, tell us and we will look into it and remove the account if needed. Press Report on any post, comment, profile or message, or, if you are a member, message TPN_Explorer, who runs the site. An email address will be added here when Orion Skies moves to its own web address.
Our commitment
We keep this under review and will do more if the site changes or if guidance from Ofcom or the Information Commissioner's Office asks for it.
