Community rules
Everyone here started with a first night that went wrong. Please keep it friendly and useful for the next person.
1. Be kind
Every expert was a beginner once. Answer the question that was asked, and never make anyone feel daft for asking it.
2. Your own pictures
Only share pictures you took yourself. If you share someone else's with their permission, say whose it is.
3. Say how you took it
It is optional, but the settings under a picture are what help the next person most: target, mode, filter, exposure, gain, frames.
4. No home locations
Do not post where anyone lives, including yourself. Your target list uses an area rounded to about ten kilometres, never an address. Public dark sites are fine.
5. Stay on the subject
Smart telescopes, the night sky and taking pictures of it. Aurora talk is welcome too.
6. No selling or spam
Do not sell or advertise here. Mentioning a filter, tripod or app that helped you is fine.
7. No harassment or hate
Discrimination, hate speech and harassment of any kind are not allowed and lead to removal.
8. Not official support
Orion Skies is run by owners, not by DWARFLAB. For a fault or the warranty, contact DWARFLAB.
If something worries you
Every post, comment, message and profile has a Report button. Reports go privately to a moderator, and the person is never told who reported them. You can also block anyone, so you no longer see each other's posts or messages.
Out at night
Tell someone where you are going and when you will be back. Pick a place you are happy being alone after midnight. In an emergency, call 999.
