Cookies we set
No advertising or tracking cookies, and no analytics service. Two of our own:
| Cookie | What it is for | How long |
|---|---|---|
os_session | Keeps you signed in. Only set when you open the sign in or join form, or the community page, which has a sign in form. Browsing the guides, targets and forecasts sets no cookie. It cannot be read by the page's scripts. | 30 days, or until you sign out |
os_scope | Remembers which DWARF scope you chose, so the pages show its settings. Only set if you choose one. | 1 year |
Settings kept on your phone
A few choices are kept in your browser's own storage. They stay on your phone and are not sent to us.
| Name | What it keeps |
|---|---|
os-area | Your location, rounded to about 10 km, and the district name. |
os-day | Whether you switched from red light to day mode. |
os-scope | A copy of your scope choice, in case the cookie is cleared. |
Saved pages for no signal
The site keeps copies of its guide pages, target pages and the last forecast you opened on your phone, so they still open at a dark site with no signal. Only the signed-out version of a page is kept, so your name and account are never in these copies. If you turn on clear-night alerts, the same small background script shows the alert.
Other sites
The cloud map on the Cloud page comes from Windy, which may set its own cookies. The lettering comes from Google Fonts. Typing a postcode asks postcodes.io. Each has its own privacy policy.
Clearing them
Signing out removes the sign in cookie. Clearing this site's data in your browser settings removes everything above.
