Terms of use
Last updated: October 2026.
Using the site
By using Orion Skies you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Unofficial
Orion Skies is not made by, linked to or supported by DWARFLAB. DWARF, DWARF 3, DWARF mini, DWARF II and DRACO are their products and their names. For anything about your warranty, repairs or a fault, contact DWARFLAB.
Settings and forecasts are a guide
The settings here were tested on real nights with a Dwarf 3. Figures for other scopes come from DWARFLAB's own published details and are marked as not yet tested by us. Cloud forecasts, dark times, target heights and alerts are best estimates from outside data and can be wrong, late or missing. Always look at the sky before you set up.
Looking after yourself and your kit
- The Sun: never point a telescope at the Sun without its proper solar filter fitted and checked. Our guides say how; you are responsible for doing it.
- Out at night: you are responsible for your own safety, for having permission to be where you set up, and for respecting land, wildlife and other people.
- We accept no responsibility for damage to your equipment, lost pictures or files, or anything that happens while following the guides.
Age
You must be 16 or over to join or to post. If we find an account belongs to someone under 16 we will remove it. See Child safety.
Your account
Keep your password to yourself. Do not create an account pretending to be someone else, an organisation, DWARFLAB or Orion Skies. We may suspend or remove accounts that break these terms or the community rules.
What you post
- Only share pictures you took yourself, or have the right to share.
- You keep the rights to your pictures. By posting one you let Orion Skies show it to members on the site, credited to you. If you delete it, we stop.
- No abuse, harassment, threats, hate, spam, adverts, other people's personal details, or anything illegal. The community rules say more.
Reports, and what happens next
Every post, comment, profile and message has a Report button, and you can block anyone, which hides you both from each other. We aim to look at every report within 48 hours, sooner if it looks illegal or involves a child. We may remove content, warn someone, suspend them, or decide no action is needed. If something of yours is removed and you think that is wrong, tell us and we will look again.
Clear-night alerts
Alerts are sent on a best effort basis. They may arrive late, not arrive, or arrive on a night that turns cloudy. Turning them on means you agree to receive them; you can turn them off at any time.
Our name and our content
The Orion Skies name, logo, guides and design are ours. The guide pictures credited to TPN Explorer are his own. Sky survey pictures are from DSS2 through CDS, Strasbourg. Weather data comes from Open-Meteo, and sky times from Auroracast.
Liability
Orion Skies is free and provided as it is, without any guarantee. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage from using the site or relying on its information. Nothing here takes away rights you have by law.
Changes and law
We may update these terms; the date at the top says when. Using the site after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
Contact
Press Report on any post, comment, profile or message, or, if you are a member, message TPN_Explorer, who runs the site. An email address will be added here when Orion Skies moves to its own web address.
